frogpyjamas: Wikipedia Article Content

In the Darkstar wikipedia article, Kyle, Marjolijn and I should be commended for decreasing the average graduation time of Darkstar officers. An engraved plaque above the G-J shelf will be sufficient recognition in the office, though I would not object to a memorial bench, as long as it isn't made of wood and prone to giving ass splinters.

melbournite: New Website for Darkstar

Some time ago (in a meeting far, far away) we decided to create a web committee in order to redesign the Darkstar website. Now, committees never seem to work as efficiently as one hopes—but! We now have a prototype for a new website look, and we would like your input.

Things of note about the new page:
- The calendar is written in PHP
- It's validated CSS and HTML
- It's all on a single page

Some things on which we would appreciate input:
- Content
- Organization
- Color scheme

Note: The current incarnation of the calendar does not have the "today's events" or "upcoming events" but we're planning on putting that in there, it's just not in yet.

In any case, without further ado, check out the site.

melbournite: Darkstar meeting minutes

Members in attendence: Sean, Jake, Daniel, Chris, Kevin, Brittany

Sean moves to bend the rules of reality to say that this is the month of May. Motion seconded and passed. It is now the 32nd of May. And we can hold elections in the very merry month of May.

We are now holding elections. Brittany is nominated for president, as is the mermaid. Brittany wins, 3 to 2, with one abstention, and after much discussion.
Christina was nominated for vice president. Christina wins unanimously.
Sean, the stereo cable, and the cue cat were nominated for secretary. Sean wins, with 4 votes, and the cue cat and the stereo cable each had one vote.
Daniel was nominated for treasurer, and won with 5 votes for, and one abstention.
Dominic was nominated for booth babe, and won unanimously.

New officers for next school year:
President: Brittany
Vice President: Christina
Secretary: Sean
Treasurer: Daniel
Booth Babe: Dominic

It was noted everything is the same except that Sean and Brittany have switched positions.

Sun God: In light of the fact that someone got hit in the head with a skeet thingy at Sun God, we should invest in some side board things for next year, and possibly create pockets for the backs of the holes.

There was some discussion of fundraisers. Nothing was actually decided, except that perhaps we'd like to do that once a quarter. Daniel is going to talk to Rebecca about that.

It has been suggested that since the SCA wants the cabinet that the games are currently in, we might be able to trade the space they currently have in the shelves for the cabinet space.

We should also clean the office sometime.

The conversation has moved off onto the tangent of linked lists, arrays, and array lists.

Right, back to office cleaning thoughts.

Jake got yarn porn. Naked yarn! Daniel looks broken.

The next irregular movie series will be the Incredibles and Spiderman 2.

The office work party will be SATURDAY JUNE 25TH.

Rebecca had the suggestion of some students-only events.
Recruitment might involve:
-dinner at Rock Bottom, followed by Serenity during first week. (Discussion of Firefly and borrowing followed.)
-open house
-advertisement in the SOLO booklet
-advertisement in Student Flyers

Much discussion of Buffy the Vampire Slayer happens, and a bit of The Prisoner. And masturbating monkeys.

melbournite: Unidentified mail

Darkstar received a letter by airmail from the UK with one small piece of white paper which says:

...Does anyone know what this means?

melbournite: Sun God Festival

Last Saturday in the Darkstar office...

There was sweat, physical activity and inhalants.* There were multiple participants, and there was yellow paint.** ...There was even a jigsaw.

And in the end, we were left with this.Collapse )

*...Black spray paint.

**Well, and other colors too.

melbournite: LAN Party idea

The idea of an overnight LAN party was proposed at the last business meeting, and so to figure out which dates might work for that I've made a kind of poll which can be found here:

I included Fridays and Saturdays from after next weekend until the end of the quarter. If you are interested in such a LAN party, please select which dates would work for you. Checking a box for Friday would mean a Friday-to-Saturday event, and checking a box for Saturday would mean a Saturday-to-Sunday event.

melbournite: Darkstar business meeting summary

Note: Since this meeting was held at the pub, seemed kind of informal, and the only thing we actually voted on (instead of just talking about) was to adjourn the meeting, I didn't really take "minutes" as such and instead just wrote down what we talked about. Also, I was eating an apple and couldn't type very fast. On to what happened at the meeting!

Students need food badly! Chris has a car; Brittany has a Costco card. Food will be gotten.
The mail is working. Huzzah!
Sungod! We are planning to buy clay and make skeets to throw at a board with targets on and break impressively (the skeets, not the board). To test this theory, we will get together sometime before April 15th-ish.
Note to change the website to say the gaming meetings are every other Sunday now, instead of the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.
The idea of an all night LAN party has been proposed and will be looked into. Pizza would be required. Where to hold such a party needs to be investigated. (if you are interested in such a LAN party, leave a comment)
Other ideas: camping/stargazing in the desert, advertising events on the UCSD livejournal community, going to the observatory.
There will be a special Sun God work party meeting thingimajig on Saturday the 9th.
